This 21 years old former Olympic champion may really have sprung from Olympus and not from Louisville. Already he is part of our mythology. He has one finger on the promotional pulse of the boxing world, one finger on the lips of the Muse, and one reaching for the piein the sky that comes with the world's heavyweight title. This leaves him two fingers free. With one he taps himself on the chest oas he proclaims "I am the greatest". With the other he pats himself on the back in total agreement.

Accordingly he has been left with more to clentch into a fist that as catapulted him into the role of the most colorful fighter in boxing history [...]

He is managed by a syndicate of business tycoons, but Cassius is his own creation. Nobody else could have invented him. Like his poetry, he is a figment of his own imagination. He is unique. Narcissus never had it so good.

Clay is the grandson of an iceman and he plays it cool, but he is the hottest number ever to dance an a canvas or soud off on wax. A cacophony by Cassius makes a Strauss tone poem seem as ineffectual as Patterson was against Liston. A punch, a poem, a playlet are all the same to this six feet-three, 215 pounds athlete who is actor as well as aesthete[...]
